1. The quote I chose for this assignment was from Brown v. Board of Education Topeka (1) by Oyez.org. The quote states, "Chief Justice Earl Warren delivered the opinion of the unanimous Court. The Supreme Court held that “separate but equal” facilities are inherently unequal and violate the protections of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The Court reasoned that the segregation of public education based on race instilled a sense of inferiority that had a hugely detrimental effect on the education and personal growth of African American children. Warren based much of his opinion on information from social science studies rather than court precedent. The decision also used language that was relatively accessible to non-lawyers because Warren felt it was necessary for all Americans to understand its logic".
2. I believe the meaning of this quote is creating a separation in the classrooms based on ethnicity is wrong because instills a sense of inferior and superior mindset in the children's mind. Creating that mindset in children at such a young age can affect the mental grow rate of African American children. It could possibly make them believe they are not worth anything and should not pursue a proper education.
3. I like this quote because it shows that no one is inferior or superior from each other. It also shows that children do not create hatred for each other, adults instill or teacher hatred to children. I also like this quote because they transcripted the case to make sure everyday citizens can read and understand the case. They did not want to hide what they were talking about so they made sure everybody can understand it.
