1. The quote I chose for this assignment was from America's most gerrymandered congressional districts by Christopher Ingraham. The quote states, "This speaks to the notion that the point of gerrymandering isn't to draw yourself a safe seat but to put your opponents in safe seats by cramming all of their supporters into a small number of districts. This lets you spread your own supporters over a larger number of districts. And the way to do this is to draw outlandishly-shaped districts that bring far-flung geographic areas together".
2. I believe the meaning of this quote is when you are running for elections, if you are a candidate that is not more favored over your opponent then your best chances of winning an election is to do gerrymandering. Push your supporters in areas that people really do not seem to acknowledged or push your supporters in areas that are not apart of the dense population of that state.
3. I like this quote because it shows how sneaky politicians can be when it comes to elections. Even though this method is not illegal or looked down upon in the public, it shows that no matter how highly favored or highly disliked by the people, you can have a chance at winning any election if you practice this method. Based on the information I just learned, I believe Trump used this same method to win the 2016 Presidential election.
